Founder’s Message

Dear prospective student,

I welcome you to AKTO, the largest art center, with the dynamism of fresh ideas, exceptional collaborators, and long-standing experience in art and design education.

Just as everything changes and evolves over time, so too do the arts, especially those that serve people’s daily needs, constantly evolve, rendering curricula created a few years ago no longer applicable in the job market. New materials are introduced daily, new application methods, and new aesthetics are shaped and established. Computer technology has superseded traditional methods, created new specializations, while skills once considered essential in applied arts are being abandoned.

Therefore, the responsibility for those who undertake such a role in education is significant. Fully aware of the magnitude of this responsibility, we have guided AKTO to this exceptionally high level of studies, which for over 50 years now has met the demands of contemporary educational philosophy. This high standard of studies has been recognized by the job market, whose members annually turn to AKTO and offer hundreds of job opportunities to our graduates.

Through the continuous and careful shaping of our educational programs, with the support of many prominent and highly esteemed artists, as well as our new, exceptional artist collaborators, we continue to educate generations of artists and designers who excel in Greece and abroad.

It is no coincidence that the AKTO alumni community is currently the largest art & design community in Greece, and AKTO is the most prominent name in the field of fine and applied arts.

With justifiable pride, I assure you that through a rich academic experience, you too, as an AKTO graduate, will possess a complete arsenal of knowledge and skills for distinction in your professional career. I also assure you that AKTO will always remain a support and source of energy for you at whatever stage of your career you may find yourself.

During your years of study at AKTO, our goal is for you to become part of an exciting academic environment, with studies that will fuel your intellectual curiosity, inspire you in the present and for your future, and provide you with extensive learning. Simultaneously, through your own efforts, the significant human values and virtues you embody will be symbolically honored. These are values and virtues that characterize the creative and inquisitive individual throughout history, values and virtues that have led to humanity’s great cultural development, and values and virtues that are developed and nurtured within every educational institution.
