AKTO
CEO’s Message

There is no greater honor than the opportunity I have been given to continue my family’s vision, and simultaneously, through a robust academic framework proven over many years, to carry on AKTO’s significant work.
Although I am a clinical/counseling psychologist, I find myself in the position of serving the largest art and design educational institution in Greece. This circumstance has led me to deeply reflect on the connection between education, art, and psychology.
Education and psychology share a great deal. One such commonality is that both disciplines are profoundly human-centered. They focus on understanding and helping individuals discover how to create a more fulfilling life—a life that aligns more closely with their goals and dreams. Furthermore, art and design education is even more aligned with the philosophy of psychology, as both fields emphasize freedom, creativity, flexibility in expression, and the journey of self-development.
For me, AKTO has never been merely a job. With my beloved grandfather, Vlasis Vellios, as the pioneering force, we have continued for over 50 years, pursuing the same vision with dedication, consistency, and responsibility.
With over half a century of history, AKTO transcends the boundaries of a mere educational institution. It is an experience that, once lived, is bound to change your life. This is also my vision: to continue AKTO’s journey for the next 50 years, connecting with and touching the lives of people who wish to pursue their dreams—individuals seeking to discover and nurture the artist within them.
Let us therefore advance AKTO’s great vision into the future, and let us all celebrate together—students, faculty, and friends of AKTO—the next 50 years!
At AKTO, we don’t say goodbye… we say ‘until we meet again!’
