College Graduation

When?

The graduation ceremony takes place after the June examination period has concluded and all grades have been validated by Middlesex University London, at the end of each academic year. In September, shortly before the start of the new academic year, the Graduation Ceremony for all levels of education within the College’s study programs is held, with the validation of Middlesex University London.

The Nature of the Event

The event is formal and adheres to academic protocol in accordance with British standards, with academic staff wearing their gowns and the Directors of all departments present on stage. Graduates also wear gowns and accessories bearing the insignia of Middlesex University London.

Invitation – Registration of Participation

Successful final-year students of the current Academic Year, whose grades are validated each July by Middlesex University London, receive an invitation to participate in the Graduation Ceremony. Participation is not automatic for all students, which is why registration of participation is required.

Rehearsal

This is an event of considerable scope and duration. To optimize time and maintain guest engagement without causing fatigue, a General Rehearsal is held a few hours before the ceremony. Participating final-year students are requested to attend this process, where the flow and individual stages of the event are explained in detail. It is important to note that at the Graduation Ceremony, only those present are called by name (alphabetically). Therefore, the Rehearsal addresses the seating arrangements for graduates, the order of announcement, and the path to (and from) the stage for those who will be called.

Ceremony

Guests enter the hall first and are requested to arrive promptly at the event venue. The Ceremony commences with the entrance of the graduates, followed by the Academics who proceed to the stage. The academic representative of Middlesex University London graces the Ceremony with their presence, conferring the Bachelor & Master degrees. Similarly, the conferral of AKTO degrees is performed by the Managing Director and Academic Head of AKTO, Dr. Stella Kyrimi.

The Ceremony is presented by a representative from the Foreign Liaison Office. They welcome the event and detail its flow, inviting the Directors of the undergraduate & postgraduate study programs and the graduates to the stage. The Ceremony includes brief addresses from the Directors of the study programs, speeches by distinguished graduates, and, naturally, the conferral of Degrees and Awards for Excellent Performance. The event is also addressed by speeches from the M.U. representative and the Managing Director and President of the Academic Council of AKTO.

You will be invited to ascend the stage when your name is called. There, academics will confer your degrees with a handshake, and a moment will be provided for a commemorative photograph, all while your friends, relatives, professors, and fellow students applaud you. After receiving your Degrees, you are requested to return to your seat until the conclusion of the event.

The Party

Following the conclusion of the Ceremony, a reception will be held. The now-traditional group photograph of the Graduates will mark the commencement of the party. In an atmosphere of joy and emotion, your relatives, friends, and the academic & administrative staff of the School will extend their best wishes for a successful career and the achievement of your academic & professional goals!
